Response 1 of 1 videoproject The Video Project's Online Catalog 11:45 pm Sep 5, 1991 IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIII WELCOME TO THE VIDEO PROJECT'S ONLINE VIDEO.CATALOG! III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIII ABOUT THE VIDEO PROJECT AND THE VIDEO.CATALOG IIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII THE VIDEO PROJECT is a non-profit organization founded in the early 1980's to produce and distribute affordable films and videos on issues critical to our future on the planet (we were originally known as The Educational Film and Video Project.) Our first programs, which we produced ourselves, dealt with the nuclear arms race--the ultimate environmental issue of our time. THE LAST EPIDEMIC, Oscar-nominee IN THE NUCLEAR SHADOW, and Oscar-winner WOMEN--FOR AMERICA, FOR THE WORLD, were among our first productions. The Video Project now distributes over 160 programs produced by many filmmakers on a wider range of critical global concerns: preserving the environment, improving U.S.-Soviet relations, ending the continuing arms race, and seeking alternatives to militarism. Thousands of schools, colleges, libraries, community groups, churches, and individuals have successfully used these programs. We hope you will too. We welcome your comments or suggestions. Thanks for your interest! Steve Ladd, Executive Director Vivienne Verdon-Roe, Co-founder, President Ian Thiermann, Chairman, Co-founder, Treasurer IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII __________________ THE ONLINE CATALOG ------------------ We're pleased to present this up-to-the-minute version of the VIDEO PROJECT catalog--with over 160 program listings currently online, and new programs added as immediately as they become available. The programs are generally arranged by broad subject area, each subject within a single topic. There are a number of topics to help you find your way around in the catalog: TOPIC 2 is an alphabetical TITLE INDEX cross-referenced to num- bers to help locate a specific title within the topics. TOPIC 21 is a detailed SUBJECT INDEX. TOPIC 3 contains information on ordering. TOPIC 4 contains an online order form which you can either e-mail or fax via the IGC network, or printout and mail via the postal service. All e-mail inquiries and orders may be addressed to our account on PeaceNet: . TOPIC 5 contains information on VIDEO PROJECT membership, and includes an enrollment form if you wish to become a member. (Membership is not required to order videos, but does provide discounts and lots more...) TOPIC 20 contains a section on "How to use these videos" plus some other resources we have available. Many of our newest releases are to be found in the ENVIRONMENT topics. The tremendous upsurge in public concern about the state of our planet has resulted in many more new productions exploring the environmental crisis--with an emphasis on creative solutions and citizen involvement. The global changes and challenges following the end of the Cold War have fueled a hot debate over what constitutes our national security. Several excellent new programs help make sense of this debate and pose sensible alternatives to previous policies. Several earlier releases in this area have continued to win significant awards: DARK CIRCLE was honored with a National Emmy, and BUILDING BOMBS continues to win many top festival awards. Then there's the much-praised Glasnost Film Festival, which we released nationally on video last year. You'll find infor- mation on the Festival in (TOPIC 12); ABOUT THE GLASNOST FILM FESTIVAL. Other significant new programs deal with the ongoing con- sequences of the Gulf War, U.S. involvement in Latin America, alternatives to armed revolution, the roots of human rights, and the ethical issues of job choice. Please help these programs get the audiences they deserve. And feel free to call or e-mail us if we can help you choose the right program.
