To : aj912@cleveland.Freenet.Edu I'm not sure what you mean by my address, "... to the UseNet ...". If you mean my address at the bottom of the article [INTERNET: aj912@cleveland.Freenet.Edu (Maurice Maschke)], that would be fine ... Please let me know on this. On the 'source listings' the Amnesty International reference was taken from three multi-medial sources: NBC Nightly News, The New York Times and The Cleveland Plain Dealer. Points 1, 2, 3 were cited as coming "... from Amnesty International ...". The names of the reports were not given. NBC reported point 2 in March of 1991. Point 1 was reported in March 1991 by The New York Times. And point Three was reported by The Cleveland Plain Dealer in April 1991. Point 4, 6, and 7 were taken from The New York Times Sunday magazine, from an article done on the Dr. Brazleton Harvard University Study. The article came out in December of 1990. Point five was brought out by NBC News, and further substantiated, through indication, by the Brazleton Report. Further, the Council for a Drug Free America presented figures of 1500 to 2500 per day being born addicted to Crack Cocaine, in the fall of 1990. Point 8 came from the 1991 Information Please Alamac, page 73, regarding Tax information, and was supplied by the Internal Revenue Service. Point 9 came to me from my local bank, National City Bank. My friend, one of the managers said, (paraphrase) '... The American Business Institute is reporting that the foreclosure rate on homes in now at approximately 1.5 paychecks, where the distance used to be almost 30 days, ten years ago ...'. ****************************************************************** It has been since December of 1989 that I have been annexing multi-media data in the format of database listings, using Microsoft Works, sorted according to whether the listing has been used or not, and the date that it was used. The default is that the listing is stored by the date of the listing. Currently, I have over 800 listings in various what I call "Newsbase" data bases that are stored on my News Listing Data disks, with each data base being listed in the following format: NW<>.wdb. I have, as of April 26, 1991, sent letters to the following addresses: 1. cdp!amnesty@labrea.stanford.EDU - requesting that "Urgent Actions Reports" be sent to me on a regular basis. 2. peter@eteuv1.una.ac.at - formally requesting a membership in Amnesty International. It was cited that since AI no longer had an office in Cleveland, and since I was beginning to do more in the electronic community, I felt that by my being granted a membership in AI I could generate more support for the organization and help to increase the membership through raising local awareness regarding the organization and its goals. If you have any questions, regarding the foregoing, please let me know. My goal is quite parallel, and in support of yours, and others at PeaceNet, as you know. I am more than willing to do just about anything that I can to help you, PeaceNet and the fight for Human Rights. On the "News Listings" ... I am sending these to you on a daily basis, as I distribute them in the Cleveland Area on the FreeNet system. There is no problem with when you post them. I fully understand, and appreciate your very busy schedule. I am only forwarding them to you so that you will have the option of posting should you desire and deem them fitting. Once the 'new group' is open, all that I'll need from you is the address for how I am to post my articles. Then, I'll be posting one article per day, some days two. These articles will be the short (just a few paragraphs) "News Listings". For the most part, these articles are taken from USA Today, that is supplied on-line at FreeNet. The supporting statistics are then taken from the other research sources that I eithe have available, or that I search out, either at the library or in one of the other sources that I have available or find. Once each week I'll then sending the group a copy of my current issue [volume] of "The Wingate Letters". As you have seen this is what I call an exercise in rhetoric. The basic purpose of The Wingate Letters is to stimulate not only the mind of the reader but their emotions as well, towards helping them to become more involved in the Human Rights fight, and process. Often these articles come from direct personal experience. Thus, the stories have their complete basis in events that have happened to me personally. Often, I support these stories with statistics that I either obtain from the Cleveland Library, or one of my other sources if it will help me to get the reader more involved in the HR fight. ****************************************************************** INTERNET: aj912@cleveland.Freenet.Edu (Maurice Maschke) U.S. Mail: 12931 Shaker Blvd., #403, Cleve., O., 44120-2077 Voice Mail: 216-991-8749 - Box # 8749
