While I'm at it (replying), let me try to influence your vote (-: First, are you aware that this is "approval voting" so you list all the "acceptable" names, in particular you can list more than one name? Also, misc.activism.progressive is not a name that I'm really opposed to, but are you aware, on a more minor point, that should that name be adopted, the "subgroups" would have to be rather long, as in misc.activism.progressive.mid-east misc.activism.progressive.cent-am etc? That's why I lean more towards misc.progressive.general (and more so towards misc.progressive.clearinghouse), which, granted, don't say "activism" but that's because the the "there are fundamentalist/right-wing activists too" (true, but that's not what "activism" means in most of ordinary conversation); so another possibility is the "peace" group of names. e.g. misc.peace.general misc.peace.clearinghouse would give us misc.peace.mid-east and the not so bad (IMO) misc.peace.eco(logy) [give the Earth some peace!] and "justice" is another possibility... You can of course decide to stick with just your original vote... best wishes Harel ****************************************************************** Date: Mon, 22 Apr 91 07:55:35 MDT From: McGuire@solcat.solbourne.com (Jim McGuire) I'm trying to vote for "misc.activism.progressive", but my mail to mathrich@umcvmb.bitnet bounces. The mail to peter@taronga.hackercorp.com went okay. He suggested I send my vote to you, and ask if you could forward it. Is that okay? Anyway, I like the "misc.activism.progressive" name Jim McGuire, Solbourne Computer Speaking for mcguire@solbourne.com myself only!
