cdp!wrt@arisia.xerox.com MATHRICH@UMCVMB.BITNET Hi! I read your well-written Statement on the Bush's war in the Gulf, originally posted to mideast.actions on PeaceNet, on ACTIV-L (the Activists Mailing List (AML)), which I co-founded. The list administrator, Rich Winkel [MATHRICH@UMCVMB.BITNET] and I have an agreement with Howard Frederick allowing us to forward information from PeaceNet to our mailing list, which now reaches several hundred members, along with forwarding some of the material to the UseNet (principally to alt.activism); in fact, this relationship started when an essay/proposal of mine regarding a Progressive Alliance Clearing House (PACH) project, encompassing ACTIV-L and much more, was forwarded to Howard F. by Andy Lang; Howard liked the idea and gave us a free PeaceNet account as a result. I would be happy to send you a copy of this file. Of more immediate concern, ACTIV-L will hopefully soon become a full-distribution UseNet newsgroup, tentatively called misc.peace (Proposal is included below, describing us and the future group). We would like to be a link in the PACH central network, providing information and resources to activists across the country; due to the large volume of material, it would be best if, instead of a moderator or a few moderators handling everything, we could have people we are working with, groups on PeaceNet, for example, post directly to misc.peace, once frequency and format of posts are agreed upon between us. Actually, what prompted me to write you right now is a more mundane matter: among the AML resource files is a file "groups" containing names, addresses, email if possible, and descriptions of groups; I include Christic's below, and wondered if you could at your leisure write up an entry like that, to be added to our file. This would be posted regularly to misc.peace, and made available to a network of progressive student newspapers, as per PACH project. I can email you a copy of this and other AML resource files as well. But principally I am wondering about your thoughts regarding the ideas in the second paragraph; this would give me an indication of how well this proposed arrangement with misc.peace would work for other PeaceNet groups.
