I share your objectives in distributing alternative news and information sources to as many individuals and organizations as possible. We have been providing the Central America Update free of charge to PeaceNet for years. Numerous ... Dear Barbara, Sincer our last communication, (1) I have moved from Chicago for pollution-related health reasons and my address, whose relevance is in the third item, is c/o John Lamperti, Upper Loveland Rd., Norwich, VT 05055, (802)649-1359; Rich Winkel, the administrator of the ACTIV-L mailing list (aka AML), is for now "in charge" of the project(s) I described. His address is MATHRICH%UMCVMB.BITNET. (2)I have received a complimentary PeaceNet account. The account name is "harelb" (my (temporary) email address here is similarly harelb@cabot.dartmouth.edu); in fact, I received just two days ago the information packet at John's house with the IGC pamphlet, password, etc. (3)John Lamperti has generously offered to pay the $300 for an [John.W.Lamperti@mac.dartmouth.edu (or just lamperti@dartmouth.edu)] institutional membership for ACTIV-L, for which you would post yourself (or work it out with Rich W) all the updates. I am hoping you would be willing to allow us to post these to misc.peace.pach as well once it is created -- although the "final" misc.peace.pach system, I think, would/should probably institute a type of "honorware" system (as for software) asking those who regularly/extensively read and make use of posts to send in donations to LADB, PeaceNet, etc, whatever the case might be. What do you think about this? Please give the USmail address to send the check to and who to make it out to (hopefully involving the Univ. of N.M. so it's tax deductable), assuming the "deal" outlined above is acceptable. All of the above is background for our response to your query about putting the Update on the Activists Mailing List. We would be happy to see the bulletin distributed via the List if your organization or others on the List can work with us to prepare grant proposals to foundations or other sources of non-profit funding. Another possibility would be conceptualizing the Activists Mailing List as an institutional subscriber. The annual institutional subscription rate is $300. Though I'll be out of it for a while, I would like to be able to help LADB with grant proposals, in addition to the $300; please let me (and Rich Winkel) know what the possibilities are. Harel ------------------------------------------------------------------ Please let me know of your thoughts and ideas on the above. In addition to the Bitnet address (LADBAC@UNMB), I can be reached at: LATIN.AM.DBASE [Telemail] PUB278 [NewsNet] LADB [PeaceNet] ------------------------------------------------------------------
