I tend to avoid newsgroups. It seems to require more of my time to sift through lots of boring or irrelevant material. Perhaps I don't know how to use newsgroups efficiently, but I found Activ-l very useful. I think if it would vanish, I would think about paying for Peacenet rather than ploughing through volumes of chit-chat. I would like to see the mailing list split into two different sets. I would like one to just list information, and the other to for dicussion. I do think the discussion is important, but i really don't have the time/space to read and handle all of that ( i know it is not that much.) A decrease of non- information stuff would give me more time to sort through the stuff that i really want to read. And if i would really like, i could still reply on the discussion list.
