The Adventures of Batman and Robin: The Riddler, 1995. Voices: Kevin Conroy, Loren Lester, John Glover.

Two Episodes from the animated television series:

"Why Aren't You Rich" features the Riddler's origin as a disgruntled game designer out for revenge against the electronics mogul who usurped his copyright. He challenges the Dynamic Duo to solve a full scale labyrinth to save the mogul's life.

"Riddler's Reform" is a real hoot. The Riddler goes straight and lends his likeness and persona to a toy manufacturer. Of course, he is still involved in larcenous pursuits and Batman doesn't beleive in his reform for one minute. The ending, with Batman escaping certain death and driving the Riddler mad with curiosity as to how he did it, is hilarious. One of the best-written Batman adventures in any medium.

As usual, the series makes the most of its limited animation through impecable noir deco design. The characterizations are once again excellent, particularly The Riddler who is presented here as a worthy adversary for The Dark Knight, a cerebral villain whose games are as clever as they are lethal.
