The Adventures of Batman and Robin: The Penguin, 1995. Voices: Kevin Conroy, Loren Lester, Paul Williams.
Two episodes from the televison series:
In "Birds of a Feather," a newly paroled Penguin is invited to a high society afair by a pair of slumming socialites who stroke his pretentions to culture. When he realizes that he is being played for a fool, he goes on a rampage.
In "The Mechanic," the Penguin discovers who Batman uses for a mechanic. He uses this information to sabotage the Batmobile and take Batman and Robin on a wild ride.
The small details are what set this series apart. Small touches abound in these two episodes, from The Penguin's hilariously off-key appreciation of opera and the cameo appearance by a character from Jamie Hernandez's Love and Rockets, to the in-joke-for-comics-fans street names. The Penguin himself is transformed from a buffoon to a real threat to The Dark Knight in these episodes. The characterization is excellent, as usual for this series.
